Just copped: 47th Publication Design Annual

I buy this anthology each year. Design porn for those who love printed media, specifically magazines. This edition, as you’d expect, also has interactive design. But looking at all the luxurious page layouts from the past year makes me more than a little nostalgic. Not only do I want to be creating this (luckily I get to work on a print project over the next two months), but I hate to think of a world without beautiful magazines. Hopefully that will just be a bad dream for the foreseeable future.

For the record, I’ve really enjoyed the show. And maybe its inadvertent window—just as Mad Men has opened—into advertising’s diversity issues is a good thing. I’ve written about this in the past, but change seems to be coming at a glacial pace.
